Lot 141

M.Chapoutier
Côte Rôtie Mordorée, 1994
6 (1 x 6) 750ml
Chapoutier is one of the oldest names in the Rhone valley. Founded in 1808 by the Calvet family, it was sold to the Chapoutier family in 1855. Today, Michel Chapoutier is the reference-point for the entire Rhône Valley, especially with their single vineyard Sélections Parcellaires. In fact, Robert Parker has praised Chapoutier’s Northern Rhône’s as some of the world finest wines.

 Wine Storage

The classic 1994 is one of the stars of the vintage. It offers up a gorgeous, black-raspberry, cassis, olive, and violet-scented nose. Amazingly complex (as are all great Cote Roties), the wine hits the palate with copious amounts of fat, smoky, cassis-like fruit, medium body, sweet tannin, and a long, rich finish. While it is already stunningly aromatic, the flavors have yet to catch up with the wine's super bouquet. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 10-15 years. - Robert Parker 93/100 (1997)
