Bredells
Cape Vintage Reserve Limited Release, 1995
2 (1 x 1) 750ml
In the 1990’s Bredell’s was the private biggest port producer in South Africa, and one of those responsible for the new wave Portuguese style ports. Grown on the slopes of the Heldeberg in Stellenbosch, these award winning wines were in a constant rivalry with Calitzdorp for the honours of best Port producer in SA. Based exclusively on Port varieties, including Souzao, the last commercial release was made from the 2007 vintage, the vineyards now sadly grubbed up. These wines are hen’s teeth collectors’ delights, all drinking beautifully now.

'The Cape’s best? Many believe so. Certainly not only a local benchmark, but much admired by some of Portugal’s leading producers for combination of its power and refinement. It would be infanticide to drink the 1995 (in 1999)’ – Platter's SA Wine Guide 1999, 5*
