About this Item
The Antinori family has been committed to the art of winemaking for over six centuries, since 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member of the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri – the Florentine Winemakers’ Guild. Throughout its history, which spans an incredible twenty-six generations, the Antinori family has managed their business directly, making innovative, bold decisions while respecting their traditions and the environment. Their innovations played a pivotal part in Italy’s ‘Super-Tuscan’ revolution of the 1970s. As Marchese Piero loves to say, ‘ancient family roots play an important part in our philosophy but they have never hindered our innovative spirit.’
Marchesi Antinori’s estate in Umbria is a revolutionary force for the region. The amazingly successful Cervaro della Sala has arguably done more to raise the image of Italian white wine than any other single bottle.

‘The 2011 Cervaro della Sala is an outstanding expression that will benefit from many more years of careful aging. The blend of Chardonnay and Grechetto opens to golden rays of luminous brilliance that glimmer through the glass. The bouquet is beautifully shaped by toasted almond, vanilla, clove, orange zest, stone fruit and honey. Mineral notes add dimension to what is otherwise a super-rich and balanced mouthfeel. The 2011 vintage shows unique energy and intensity. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.’ – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 94+/100 (Aug 2013)
‘Made primarily from Chardonnay, with 10% Grechetto, Antinori's flagship white opens with aromas of oak, toast and vanilla. The palate offers apple, tropical fruit and citrus flavors, with hints of oak and bitter almond. This also shows cellaring potential, and will develop complexity with more bottle age.’ – Kerin O’Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, 90/100 (Feb 2014)
