On the crest of the Helshoogte Pass is the picturesque wine farm of Tokara owned by ex-banker GT Ferreira. Tokara’s first vines were planted in 1998 with a state-of-the-art winery erected shortly thereafter. Tokara has been consistently recognised as one of South Africa's top wineries.

‘For my money, this is the best Director’s Reserve yet from Tokara, and that’s saying something. Blending Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Petit Verdot and a soupçon of Cabernet Franc it’s dense and deeply coloured, with scented oak, velvety tannins and a plush core of cassis, graphite and green herbs.
