A Cape silver-mounted cowrie shell snuff box, with maker's initial F.S, possibly Godfried Fredrik Schmitzdorff, late 18th/early 19th century
the shell set to a scalloped silver border, the hinged cover and reverse with foliate wrigglework bands, 5,3cm wide; and another, apparently unmarked, the shell set to an engraved silver zig-zag border, the hinged cover engraved with 'HCG' within foliate wrigglework borders, 5,5cm wide
