Notes
In the inscription on this work, 'Homage to Shimamoto' refers to Shoza Shimamoto, a founder member of the Gutai group whom Christo Coetzee met while in Japan in 1959/60. The work was evidently done in Finestrat, Spain, where Coetzee bought a house in 1965.
