A Chinese famille-rose jar, Qing Dynasty, 19th century
the baluster body enamelled with Magu holding a ruyi sceptre with a spotted deer and attendant holding a pink enamelled vase, a pair of cranes above, with a gnarled branch suspending scholar's scrolls, observed by Shou Lao holding a spray of peach blossoms, the reverse similarly decorated before stylised waves and scholar's rocks, the shoulder enamelled with a pavilion amongst clouds, the neck with sprays of peonies, the base drilled, 31,8cm high
