PRETORIA – “Come inside, bidding is hot online,” said auctioneer Susie Goodman to late arrivals entering Pierneef’s Kraal Guest Lodge, the former home and studio of much-admired landscape painter J.H. Pierneef and venue for Strauss & Co’s maiden live auction in Pretoria. The two-part auction commenced with a red-hot spotlight sale devoted to South African ceramics.
Strauss & Co’s 14 March auction offers art lovers insights into the art and ideas shared by Picasso and Battiss when they met in Paris in the 40s.
Strauss & Co is pleased to share details of its first-ever auction in Pretoria, a two-part live sale of collectable ceramics and modern and contemporary art to be held at the former home of cherished landscape painter J.H. Pierneef. Due to be held on Sunday, 21 July 2024, the two sales acknowledge the centrality of Pretoria in the story of South African art.
International art expert and auctioneer, Dendy Easton, will be in Cape Town this week to provide free valuations and participate in the Strauss & Co auction on March 14th.
Strauss & Co is pleased to announce details of an important sale of collectable ceramics to be offered at the company’s first-ever live auction in Pretoria on Sunday, 21 July 2024. Titled Sculpted Narratives: Contemporary South African Ceramics, this spotlight sale includes high-value pieces by acclaimed clay artists Astrid Dahl, Andile Dyalvane, Ian Garrett, Frances Goodman, Nesta Nala, Hylton Nel and Bonnie Ntshalintshali. The live-virtual auction will be presented at Pierneef’s Kraal Guest Lodge, the former home of landscape painter J.H. Pierneef.
Treasures once part of the historic Vergelegen estate in Somerset West will be sold by Strauss & Co in their much anticipated auction on 14 March.
