About this Item
This Franschhoek property dedicated to producing MCC sparkling wines have achieved stellar success in a short amount of time with a specialised focus on quality. This 2012 vintage cuvee made history in becoming the first South African sparkling wine to achieve a platinum award at the renowned and highly contested Decanter World Wine Awards.
The grapes used to make this Cuvee were sourced from different parcels across the Western Cape in order to create the canvas of flavours needed to produce the basewine. The grapes were picked at first light in shallow 14kg crates, before being transported hastily to the cellar cooling chambers. The Le Lude 2012 Cuvee has tasting notes of a floral citrus with a blend of ripe lemons with development aromas of toasted brioche, caramel and buttered toast while boasting a creamy texture to the bubble.
In May 2019 the 2012 Vintage Cuvée from Franschhoek-based wine farm Le Lude received a platinum award (97 points) at the 16th Decanter World Wine Awards in London - making it the first South African Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) to receive such a high accolade. Only 2000 of these magnums were produced so this is certainly a wine lovers delight.
