About this Item

Côte-Rôtie, 2011
6 (1 x 6) 750ml

Jean-Paul Jamet is arguably the leading producer in Côte-Rôtie and his approach has not changed over more than 40 vintages. He continues to produce hauntingly beautifully, but remarkably traditional wines. The wines of Domaine Jamet appeal to wine lovers around the world seeking classic, tensioned wines that show honesty and the soil in which they are grown. One of the most traditional wine producers in Cote-Rôtie, Jean-Paul blends 25 parcels, mostly from the Côte Brune, and uses little new oak and most of the stems. His maturations are longer than most and his wines are released later than other producers. Jean-Paul is slowly handing over custodianship of one of France’s great domaines to his son, Loïc.

Critics Ratings

‘Looking at the 2011s from bottle, the straight Côte-Rôtie is a knockout effort that has soaring aromas of underbrush, herbed game, green coffee beans and white pepper to go with black cherry and blackberry-styled fruit. Medium to full-bodied, textured and layered, with fantastic precision and focus in the vintage, it should continue to shine through 2026.’ – Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, 95/100 (Dec 2013)

Bright violet color. High-pitched red and dark berry aromas are complicated by Asian spices, potpourri and black pepper, with a smoky nuance sneaking up with aeration. Lively, focused and pure, offering intense black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that become sweeter with air. Silky tannins frame the sappy finish, which clings with impressive tenacity and appealing floral character. Jamet told me that there's about 15% new oak here.’ – Josh Raynolds, Vinous.com, 93/100 (Mar 2014)
