Critics Ratings
des Aubuisières Vouvray Le Marigny Moelleux 2003
‘Honeyed, sweet and clean. Missing the idiosyncracy of the best examples. Good in an identifiable and predictable way.’ – Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16/20 (Jan 2013)
des Aubuisières Vouvray Le Marigny Sec 2012
Pale yellow and notes of honey, white flowers, and green apple. On the palate, it is dry with flavors of green apple, lemon, and mineral notes. The wine has a medium body and a crisp acidity that balances the fruit flavors and adds a refreshing quality to the wine.
des Aubuisières Vouvray Cuvée de Silex 2013
‘Honeyed, opulent nose – really does give the impression of sweetness even though it's properly dry. Quick finish.’ – Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com, 15.5/20 (Jan 2014)
‘Greenish yellow. Aromas of peach and mint. The slightly dried fruit flavors are complemented by herbs and bitter orange pith. Finishes on a malty note. This is a chenin blanc that I have often enjoyed, but the 2013 was not showing the charm I had expected when I tasted it.’ – Joel B Payne, Vinous (Dec 2014)
des Aubuisières Vouvray Le Petit Clos Sec 2014
‘More honey and ripeness to the fruit than their Marigny cuvée. Good length and a classic woolliness to the finish.’ – Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Jan 2015)
‘Made from 100% Chenin Blanc, the 2014 Vouvray Sec le Petit Clos is a medium-bodied, textured and crisp Vouvray that’s loaded with ripe aromas and flavors of honeyed peach, vanilla bean, spice and caramelized citrus. Coming from a single parcel of clay and limestone soils near Marigny, it has two grams of residual sugar, yet enough total acidity where it tastes completely dry. It should drink nicely for 3-4 years.’ – Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate (Oct 2015)
des Aubuisières Vouvray Méthode Traditionelle Brut NV
‘The latest rendition of Aubuisieres Non-Vintage Vouvray Brut Methode Traditionelle smells of ripe melons and narcissus, with a whiff of snuffed candle wick. Pineapple and lime join the melons on a juicy, delicate palate, with hints of salt as well as pungent citrus zest and smoke adding to the invigoration conveyed by a fine stream of bubbles. I was surprised to find the finish entirely satisfying and fruit-filled despite there being a mere 2 grams of residual sugar.’ - David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate (Aug 2009)
‘Like many of these HHC wines, it seems just a tad timid and light on true local character. But perhaps it’s just young? Bit chewy and austere at the moment but it’s a great price! Buy it now and age it…?’ – Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 15++/20 (May 2022)
