Notes
HC or 'Hors Commerce', translates from the French as 'outside of commerce'. It is usually a not-for-sale display copy that the artist or printer keeps to show to prospective buyers so that the pristine numbered prints in the edition do not become soiled or creased from handling. If these prints are not kept by the artist's archive, where there is one, or if the artist is deceased, HC impressions occasionally appear on the secondary market.
