Back Story: This photograph was taken of a green shoot trying to grow, in the middle of winter against all odds. It was trying to grow from the bark of a tree, that had already lost all its leaves for the winter. In these trying times, a number of us feel like the green shoot, trying to grow.
This image was submitted to Stilled Life, a community photographic platform launched to give South Africans a place to share their Covid-19 stories, and has been selected as one of the top 100 images that will be on view at the 2020 RMB Turbine Art Fair. The proceeds of the sale of this lot will benefit the BASA Artists Relief Fund.
