About this Item

A pair of Italian walnut high-back armchairs, 18th/19th century
each with a double splat centred by a rectangular tableau enclosed by scrolls interspersed with four fleurs-de-lys, heightened with a double border of stippled decoration, between stiles headed by scroll and acanthus-leaf terminals, the arm supports similarly carved, moulded solid seat, on square-section legs united by a conforming front stretcher, the sides joined by a three-quarter stretcher, restorations, losses
