In 1892 the farm had previously been divided into two pieces and was nearing on derelict when 'future' Prime Minister of the Cape, John X Merriman, stepped in with his brother-in-law Sir Jacob Barry to rescue both farms. The 2003 vintage of their Bordeaux blend was one marked by small berries and great natural acidity, making it the standout vintage of the decade. It received an incredible 5-star rating in 2006 from the Decanter UK Magazine.
