‘Lush and layered, with a broad swath of mocha-coated blackberry, plum and blueberry paste flavors, followed by notes of ganache and Christmas pudding on the finish. Hedonistic, but kept honest by a good, well-buried graphite spine.' Wine Spectator, 92/100
‘A blend of 60% Syrah and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon matured entirely in new French oak for 18 months (not that you notice), the 2010 “1694” Classification has a gorgeous, opulent bouquet with pure black cherries, fresh prune and vanilla scents that are very well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with silky smooth tannins, well-judged acidity and a satin-textured finish that is pure class. Now this is how to do top-class Stellenbosch.’ - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 93/100 (Oct 2014)
