About this Item

Protégé Mixed Case - A Celebration of Emerging Talent

This exclusive mixed case showcases the work of our four graduating Protégés. Each wine reflects their individual style, shaped through mentorship by some of South Africa's top winemakers.

Pelokazi Nomfembe - Between Seasons Chardonnay 2025
Mentored by Gordon Newton Johnson at Newton Johnson Family Vineyards, Pelokazi whole-bunch pressed Chardonnay directly to barrel, fermenting naturally in French oak on gross lees for 11 months. Layers of citrus, stone fruit, and subtle vanilla are balanced by a gentle buttery texture and vibrant acidity. Between Seasons reflects a period of quiet transition - growth, resilience, and the faith required before clarity arrives.

Lulo Palesa Bulo - Inkonjane Chenin Blanc-Viognier-Roussanne 2025
Mentored by Alex Starey at Keermont Vineyards, Lulo co-fermented Chenin Blanc, Viognier, and Roussanne with overnight skin contact before natural fermentation in French oak. The wine is rich and finely textured, with stone fruit, white florals, and a long, elegant finish. Inkonjane - "a swallow in flight" - reflects her adventurous spirit and the courage to pursue what lies ahead.

Nompumelelo Mosaka - Nkanyezi Blanc de Blancs 2025
Mentored by Charles Hopkins at De Grendel Wine Estate, Nompumelelo crafted a Cap Classique from 100% Chardonnay grown on the slopes of Tygerberg, aged 12 months on lees with no dosage. Green apple, white peach, and a soft creaminess balance freshness with quiet depth. Nkanyezi - "guiding star" - is an invitation to embrace bubbles not only in celebration, but in moments of pause and quiet reflection.

Sizeka Mpupu - Umzila Pinot Noir 2025
Mentored by Hannes Storm at Storm Wines, Sizeka drew fruit from all three wards of the Hemel-en-Aarde, naturally fermenting in open tanks before 11 months in French oak. Aromas of dark cherry, red fruit, and floral perfume lead to a fresh, refined palate with fine, silky tannins. Umzila - "the paths" - represents her journey through the Programme and the diversity of Pinot Noir from this remarkable cool-climate appellation.

This collection is packed in two wooden boxes (4 bottles per box).
