About this Item
The story of these wines is a deeply personal one. Growing up on a grape farm in the Paardeberg, my love for the vine ignited my passion for winemaking.
The Chenin Blanc Reserve is made from a small patch of vines planted by my father in 1972. In 2024, we celebrated the vineyard's 52nd anniversary and the wine's debut at the Auction. In the glass, aromas of peach, tropical fruit and pear mingle with ginger and spice. The palate is full-bodied and creamy, yet finely balanced by bright acidity, minerality, floral hints, and a subtle touch of oak.
The Saailand Shiraz, notable for its complexity and elegance, originates from an ultra-low-yielding, dry-land vineyard. The wine offers dark fruit aromas with notes of cherry and violet, and a hint of dried herbs. Its full-bodied mouthfeel is supported by firm but accessible tannins, culminating in a lingering finish.
The Swartland has long been known for its wheat fields (*saailande* in Afrikaans). Despite the rise of excellent vineyards, the land seems ever ready to shift back to its agricultural roots, reflecting the constant tug-of-war between viticulture and traditional farming.
Sharing these wines with you is a privilege. I hope it brings you as much joy and discovery as it has brought me in creating it. These wines are packed in a wooden box.
