Notes
Elsabé Milandri was born in 1980 and lives and works in Cape Town. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art at the University of Pretoria in 2002 and a Master of Arts in Fine Art, majoring in New Media at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town, in 2006. Her work spans observational drawing, nebulous colour and the visual language of epistemology, and draws on her immediate surroundings: motherhood, learning, home rituals, planted environments and weather. Her process relies on the unpredictable, investigating through play, writing and the physical act of mark-making. Solo exhibitions include Diagram for Change at the Association for Visual Arts (2010), Something like Now at Salon91 (2012), [Dezember] at The Literoom, Basel (2012), Sostenuto at Tina Skukan Gallery (2013) and Wind Shifts at eight at Smith Studio (2017). In 2024 she began working at David Krut Workshop with printers Roxy Kaczmarek and Kim-Lee Loggenberg-Tim, producing oil- and watercolour-based monotypes that were included in the exhibition In Every Moment (2024). Her work is held in private collections in the USA, UK and Europe.
