About this Item

Cuvee 736 NV
6 (1 x 6) 750ml
Champagne Jacquesson, based in Dizy and run by the Chiquet brothers, is one of the region's most admired grower-houses, famous for retiring its non-vintage blend in favour of a single numbered cuvée each year, the '700 Series', built to express one base vintage in a taut, low-dosage style. Cuvée 736 is built on the acclaimed 2008 base, an extra-brut of notable precision. 2008 was one of the great modern Champagne vintages, prized for its racy acidity and outstanding ageing potential. Antonio Galloni from Vinous gave it a rating of 95, and Allen Meadows from Burghound.com gave it a rating of 93.

Provenance

The late David Brice was a respected wine connoisseur, collector and co-founder of Brice and Burnett – The Fine Wine Specialists (formerly Wine Cellar). His lifelong passion for wine from all corners of the world wine, and generosity, helped develop a culture of fine wine in South Africa and beyond. Always with value and authenticity in mind, the collection spans a wide range of styles from leading producers and diverse regions. The wines were professionally imported under refrigeration and carefully stored at Brice and Burnett (formerly Wine Cellar) thereafter. Many of the producers are not available in South Africa and provide an excellent buying opportunity.

Critics Ratings

"Built on a base of 2008, the 736 was brilliant, focused and chiseled from the very first taste. What a wine!" - Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 95/100 (Oct 2013)

"A cool, pure and restrained nose of citrus, green apple and soft yeast nuances serves as an elegant introduction to the equally refined flavors that possess a wonderfully fine mouth feel as the supporting mousse is perfectly integrated. As the Extra Brut designation would suggest this is quite dry but in contrast to many examples of the genre the Cuvée 736 is not especially austere. This could accurately be described as a Champagne of finesse." - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 93/100 (Jun 2014)
