Vina Arana Rioja Gran Reserva 2011

Viña Arana is one of La Rioja Alta's classic Haro reds, and the 2011 is the final vintage released as a Reserva before the label was elevated to Gran Reserva from 2012. A blend of mostly Tempranillo with 5% Mazuelo from Rodezno and Labastida, it was fermented in stainless steel and matured for three years in used, neutral American oak in the traditional Haro style. Polished and balsamic, with resolved tannins and integrated acidity, it is a fine and ageworthy example of classic Rioja. Josh Raynolds from Vinous gave it a rating of 92.
