A group of four Victorian mother-of-pearl card cases

each rectangular, with hinged compartment, decorated with diamond-cut panels, one example inlaid with abalone, another overlaid with a silver cartouche and foliate border, each cover applied with silver-plate rectangular plaques, one engraved with the initials ‘JMM’, the tallest 10,5cm high; another example, similar, enclosing a blue-paper and gilt concertina silk-lined compartment, 11cm high; a tortoiseshell and mother-of-pearl inlaid card case, with hinged compartment, applied silver-plate plaque engraved with the initials ‘MB’, some mother-of-pearl loss, 9,5cm high; and a black lacquer inlaid and tortoiseshell spectacle case, the elongated hinged body inlaid with a mother-of-pearl border between metal-lined borders, velvet-lined interior, cracks and repairs, 17cm long
