‘Ripe. Cherry blossom, cherry fruit, gentle warm spices. Cinnamon. Has heart. Really interesting nuttiness. Like praline! White pepper. Sweet bark. Moroccan leather, chai tea. I love this. Marches to the beat of its own drum. Tiny bit of milk chocolate, in the best way. The tannins nip in to the waist like a well-fitting wide belt. This has sass and class.’ - Tamlyn Currin, jancisrobinson.com, 17/20 (Aug 2021).
‘ Intense aromas of fruit cake spice, lifted red cherry, wild strawberry and church incense mingle harmoniously on the nose of this bright and well-balanced Syrah. The palate follows suit, with a powerful presence though still ultimately restrained and elegant thanks to a bold structure of fine tannins, ample peppery spice and ethereal herbal and tea-like inflections that lend depth and an earthy grounding throughout. An Old World iron and olive accent grace the cherry-fruit-flavored finish’. - Lauren Buzzeo, Wine Enthusiast, 92/100
'"I'm making this for Syrah fanatics", says Reenen Borman. Lucky them is all I can say, because this is another stunning release from a brilliant young winemaker. Intense, granitic and spicy, with lovely lavender and garrigue aromas, layers of dark, inky fruit, stylish oak and amazing length. What more do you want from a Syrah? 2020-30' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2018, 98/100
'Single-vineyard shiraz, like 2015 (90 pts). More expressive & fascinating than the Syrah. A floral note (lilies) is part of the dark fruit complexity & finesse of 2016, lifted by 25% bunch ferment, supported by judicious oaking (20% new). Firmly built. Long-lingering dry finish.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2019, 4.5* (94/100)
