The Distinguished Cellar of David Brice: A Rhône Collection
About the Session

The late David Brice was a respected wine connoisseur, collector and co-founder of Wine Cellar, fine wine merchants. His lifelong passion for wine from all corners of the world wine, and generosity, helped develop a culture of fine wine in South Africa and beyond. Always with value and authenticity in mind, the collection spans a wide range of styles from leading producers and diverse regions. The wines were professionally imported under refrigeration and carefully stored at Wine Cellar thereafter. Many of the producers are not available in South Africa and provide an excellent buying opportunity.

The Rhône valley was one of David’s favoured regions, known for its diverse range of reds and whites. These were quintessential French wines from excellent easy-drinking, to fine, long-term treasures. He enjoyed wines from all the villages from Vaucluse to Vacqueyras, and Cornas to Côte-Rôtie. David focused on top vintages for long-term maturation and lesser vintages for earlier drinking. The highlight perhaps is his deep collection of top Châteauneuf-du-Pape from great vintages like 2010 and 2007.

About this Item

Ventoux Quintessence & Terrasses Rouge 2011, 2013
2 (1 x 2) 750ml, 1500ml
Pesquié Ventoux Quintessence & Les Terrasses Rouge are two flagship red wines from Domaine Château Pesquié in the Ventoux AOC of the Southern Rhône, crafted from organically farmed vineyards beneath Mont Ventoux’s limestone and clay‑rich soils. Quintessence - whose name highlights the estate’s ideal, concentrated expression, is a Syrah‑dominated blend with Grenache from older terraced vineyards. Les Terrasses Rouge is a blend from a broader range of hillside sites.

Critics Ratings

Pesquie Ventoux Quintessence 2011
‘Showing beautifully, with tons of Provencal charm in its kirsch, blackberries, peppery spice and licorice aromas and flavors, the 2011 Ventoux la Quintessence is medium to full-bodied, silky, seamless and downright impossible to resist. Possessing beautiful purity of fruit and a more exotic, floral character with time in the glass, it's drinking the best of all of the younger vintages. Nevertheless, it will continue to evolve nicely through 2025. 2014-2026’ – Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, 93/100 (Oct 2016)

Pesquie Ventoux Terrasses Rouge 2013
‘The 2013 Ventoux Terrasses offer gorgeous garrigue, white pepper, underbrush and sweet berry fruit to go with a forward, seamless, elegant style on the palate. Year in and year out this cuvee is an incredible value and a no brainer that readers need to buy.’ – Jeb Dunnuck, 91/100 (Jan 2015)
