Notes
Lawrence Holme Twentyman, the son of John Middleton Twentyman and Phoebe Holme, was born in 1793 in
Liverpool. After qualifying as a clock and watchmaker he left for the Cape in 1818, where he became the most
prolific and well-known 19th century silversmith.
