About this Item
South African 1943-1955
Jug with exaggerated lip
'L W' painted on the underside
double-glazed hand-thrown earthenware
height: 18cm; width: 12,5cm; depth: 17cm
Notes
While Linn Ware is best known for producing functional, utilitarian tableware, the exaggerated lip of this jug elevates it beyond the purely practical. Together with the signature innovation of double-glazing, which resulted in rich depth-enhancing finishes and the luminosity for which Linn Ware pieces became renowned, we see an everyday object transformed into a design object.
