Rare books by such artists as Irma Stern (Zanzibar (1943) and Congo (1947) form part of the sale. Also, the very first monographs on such artists as Maggie Laubser (1944) and JH Pierneef (1945). Every book published on these artists, as well as on others such as Walter Battiss, Norman Catherine, Alexis Preller, and Maud Sumner form part of this highly select library collection.
