In 1980, after several years of experimentation and visits to Bordeaux, Nico Myburgh and Giorgio Dalla Cia produced the icon Rubicon and one of SA's first Merlots. Giorgio Dalla Cia was the winemaker for this vintage.

'Youthful, bright ruby colour with garnet rim. Pomegranate, peppermint and roasted herbs, with just a slight hint of forest floor.
