In 1980, after several years of experimentation and visits to Bordeaux, Nico Myburgh and Giorgio Dalla Cia produced the icon Rubicon and one of SA's first Merlots. Giorgio Dalla Cia was the winemaker for this vintage.

'Youthful, bright ruby colour with garnet rim. Pomegranate, peppermint and roasted herbs, with just a slight hint of forest floor. The palate is grippy, with mouth-watering fine tannins, firm acidity and a long line of red and black fruit on the appetising finish. Delicious.' - Higgo Jacobs (Feb 2021), 93/100
