About this Item
The 2004 vintage was Platter's SA Wine Guide's 'Wine of the Year' in 2009 and their team subsequently never got to taste the 2005 vintage as it sold out immediately upon its release. It is a highly sought-after vintage that should be reaching maturity, but will age for many decades.

Critics Ratings
'The 2004 Kanonkop Cabernet Sauvignon has an intriguing bouquet: blackberry, a touch of espresso, mint and sage - quite intense and focused. The palate is ripe on the entry with dusky, cocoa-tinged black fruit. There is a good line of acidity and focus, segueing toward a more reserved, quite linear finish. This is drinking beautifully now.' - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 90/100 (Oct 2014)
'Luscious aromas of black cherry, raspberry and coffee are followed by a balanced wave of mocha, plums, vanilla and tobacco on the palate. Spicy with ageable tannins, the wine would go well with roasted meat, beef or stews.' - Susan Kostrzewa, Wine Enthusiast, 91/100 (Aug 2010)
'Ripe and full-bodied, offering delicious black currant, fig and licorice snap flavors that glide through the polished finish. A dash of loam adds length. Bottle age has tamed this, but it still has plenty of life.' - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 91/100 (Mar 2010)
