Notes
Solomon Siko was born in 1965 in Sakkieskamp, Wellington. Educated at Simon Hebe High School, Kuyasa High School, and later the Community Arts Project (CAP) in Woodstock (1987–89), he developed a vibrant style rooted in township life and local culture. Settling in Mbekweni, Paarl, Siko painted lively street scenes infused with humour, satire, and social commentary. His career included solo and international exhibitions, with works acquired for major collections. Deeply committed to his community, he also taught art, embodying “Ubuntu” through his belief in shared growth.
