Notes
Robert Schröder was a renowned composer and music producer who wrote music for over 15 000 commercials and helped launch the careers of major South African artists, including Mango Groove and Ringo Madlingozi. His passion for Walter Battiss began at Pretoria Boys High School, where Battiss – his art teacher – left a lasting impression with his free-spirited approach and non-conformist ideas. Over the next five decades, Robert built a deeply personal Battiss collection, with two oil paintings purchased in 1976 for R900 remaining the pride of his archive.
