Notes
Pralhad Anant Dhond was born in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, was trained at the Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai, graduating in 1934 and later earned a Master's Degree in art. One of India’s foremost water-colourists, he dedicated his practice to luminous landscapes inspired by the Konkan coast of his childhood. Dhond painted more than 7,000 works across seven decades, capturing nature’s shifting moods with subtle transparency. He served as Dean of the Sir J. J. School of Art and Director of Art for Maharashtra State (1958-1969). His paintings have been exhibited internationally and are held in collections such as the Lalit Kala Akademi, Delhi, the Baroda Museum, Gujarat, and the Nagpur Museum, Maharashtra.
