About this Item

Bas Armagnac Cognac 1954
1954

A true specificity of Armagnac, the vintage comes from a single harvest, namely that indicated on the label of the bottle. Each vintage therefore has a unique character and identity depending on the climatic and meteorological conditions but also on the work of the chai master from the vine to the bottling.

The Bas-Armagnac, whose capital is Eauze, is west of the appellation. It runs on the Landes and the western part of the Gers. It represents 67% of the areas identified in Armagnac. In this part of the terroir, the floors are sablo simedy, called "sandblasters". Bas-Armagnac brandies are delicate and very fruity.

For three generations, the Lesgourgues Family has made Château de Laubade the undisputed reference in Armagnac. 105 hectares of vineyards in the best terroirs of Bas-Armagnac with tawny sands and boulbènes soils. Laubade has its own still, which guarantees the best autonomy to distill all wines on-site, at the optimal moment and grape variety by grape variety. The oldest Armagnacs, distilled before 1930, are stored in demijohns in a room fortuitously named Paradise.
