About this Item

2019 Lost & Found
3 (1 x 3) 375ml
A straw wine made from an ancient Hanepoot (Muscat Alexandrie) vineyard near Rawsonville, planted in the late 1800s.
This is a once-off wine for us, and a wine of great personal significance for me. It is the last vintage farmed by the De Wet/Boonzaaier family, who lived on and farmed Gevonden for six generations.'

Critics Ratings

'"Bloody sweet" is how Chris Alheit describes this Muscat d'Alexandrie straw wine, sourced from a vineyard that was planted in the 1880s, and boasting 450 grams of residual sugar. Super concentrated, with low alcohol and high volatile acidity, this has flavours of treacle, molasses and orange marmalade supported by freshness on the finish. 2021-27' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2020, 96/100

'Deep orange tawny. Heady nose and pretty syrupy. Thick and curranty. I tasted this just after the canned, fortified Worcester Sauce and actually found that a little more refreshing! Quite a feat, but not a refreshment.' - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16/20 (Sep 2022)
