‘The 2016 Series M has the second highest percentage of Malbec (50%), partnered with 36% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. Gentle, floral and forward, this doesn't have the depth and structure of the Series C release, but is still a charming wine, showing mint and dried herb flavours and sweet mulberry fruit. The tannins, as ever with Zelma Long's reds, are very polished. 2020-24’ - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2019, 94/100
‘50% Malbec, 36% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. Matured for 22 months in French oak, 21% new. Top notes of violets and crushed leaves before red and black fruit plus attractive oak spice. The palate shows concentrated fruit, fresh acidity and firm but fine tannins – very well balanced. Possesses both depth and detail. Alcohol: 14%.’ - Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 93/100 (Jun 2019)
‘The 2016 Series M offers smudged red berry fruit on the nose, laced with ash and earthy/terra-cotta aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a powdery texture, fine tannins and a lovely dark chocolate and tobacco-infused finish that feels caressing and long. Very fine. 2021-2034’ - Neal Martin, Vinous, 92/100 (Oct 2019)
‘The 2016 Series M is a blend of 50% Malbec, 36% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. It begins with a gussied-up, black and fruit fruit expression with oak tones and robust purple flowers. The full-bodied palate is dense and generous with bold fruit, leather tones, sticky oak, a firm tannin structure and bold finish. This is a perfumed and chewy wine with high complexity and the ability to age for decades. 2019-2038’ - Anthony Mueller, Wine Advocate, 91/100 (Oct 2019)
