‘Donovan Rall wanted to focus more on freshness and perfume in 2019 to make his blend of Syrah with 30% Grenache, Carignan and Cinsault a little less "chunky" as he puts it. This is meaty, savoury and complex, with whole bunch characters, wild herb top notes, focused acidity and bramble and red cherry fruit. ‘Composed of Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan, the 2019 Red Blend is dark ruby in the glass and offers notions of dark red berries, wild strawberries and juicy plum on the nose, followed by subtle aromas of cherry blossoms and dried herbs. Medium-bodied, the palate is still tight with fine-grained tannins that grip the gumline, leaving behind a sensation of bitter dark chocolate and spiced red tea. ‘Mid garnet colour. Really meaty nose. Substantial palate impact with a register of fruit, tannin and acidity. Still quite youthful with a liquorice streak but this should be really satisfying.
