About this Item
100% Pinot noir
Wine of Origin: Hemel-en-Aarde Valley
Winemaker: Bartho Eksteen
One of only four Pinot Noir producers in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, and the most maritime site - closest to the ocean and lowest in altitude. Dry land vines trained to guyot on clay-rich soils, planted at Burgundian density (8333 vines/ ha) which plays a role in drawing the best from the terroir-plant combination. Naturally made with minimal intervention. Jancis Robinson rated it joint second-best in the valley. A quiet force from the edge of the Cape.
Tasting Notes: Roses, fresh cherry, subtle spice and earth. Pure and graceful with gentle tannins and a quiet flow. A Pinot that whispers with texture, restraint and quiet confidence.
If you can put away some bottles for a couple of years, you can delay the pleasure and have it back with interest for anything up to 15 years after harvest.
