About this Item
100% Chardonnay
Wine of Origin: Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley
Winemaker: Gordon Newton Johnson
Sourced from the finest single-vineyard Chardonnay site at Newton Johnson, this wine captures the clarity and energy that granite soils and a cool maritime climate impart. Now approaching 16 years of age, the vineyard delivers increasing complexity and depth. Crafted with a natural approach—no added yeast, enzymes, bentonite, or sulphur until bottling—only the finest free-run juice from whole-bunch pressing is used. The 2023 vintage offered a generous crop with cool, extended ripening conditions.
Tasting Notes: Layered citrus aromas of yuzu and lime unfold alongside white flowers, baking spice, crushed stones, and gunflint. The plush, compact texture is driven by mineral vitality and finishes with precision and length.
