Notes
The present lot exemplifies Marx’s practice of dismantling and reconfiguring established systems of knowledge – often maps or atlases – into intricate new topographies. In this work, fragments of cartographic pages are cut, shifted, and reassembled into a complex geometry that both obscures and reveals their original purpose. It invites reflection on how we navigate space, history, and memory, suggesting that maps – symbols of order and authority – are themselves fragile, subjective, and open to reinterpretation. The black background intensifies the collage, evoking a floating, fractured landscape suspended between disintegration and renewal.
