About this Item
2007 d'Yquem is considered a perfect example of the Sauternes 'miracle'. A damp growing season, detrimental to dry Bordeaux, was followed by an idyllic autumn, ensuring phenolic ripeness as well as even botrytis development.

'The 2007 d'Yquem is considered a perfect example of the Sauternes "miracle." Despite a chaotic spring and cool summer, the botrytis transformed the grapes, giving them ideal concentration throughout October. With 137 grams of residual sugar, it offers up a complex, fresh, enchanting bouquet with aromas of apricot, pineapple, saffron, orchard fruits and spices intertwined with a touch of white truffles. Full-bodied and concentrated, layered and seamless, the wine is fresh and tense on the mid-palate, with a long, penetrating and racy finish. Superb! ' - Yohan Castaing - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, 98/100 (Oct 2023)
'Befitting a glorious Sauternes vintage, the 2007 Yquem stood out in this tasting like a beacon. Sandrine Garbay notes that it was 'a great year for noble rot and feels that, like 2001, 2007 is a "classic" expression of Yquem.' Burnished hue in the glass, remarkably powerful and concentrated with endless layers of flavour. Aged in oak for 2.5 years, remarkably this could still benefit from further ageing and integration of oak. Despite the power and weight, the wine remains fresh and vibrant with driving acidity. Should improve for a decade and drink well for 30-40 years.' - Andy Howard, MW - Decanter, 98/100 (Feb 2022)
'Under blind conditions, the Yquem 2007 shines like a diamond. Nevertheless, it is initially rather taciturn on the nose, eventually opening up beautifully with touches of lemon curd, Mirabelle, and clear honey. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine definition and there seems to be a great deal of energy and vigor dispensed for your pleasure. There is such race and nervosity, and then that finish just purrs with harmony and focus. This Yquem feels just so alive and vivacious, yet there is an effortless quality here that is unmatched by its peers.' - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 98/100 (February 2012)
'Mid bronzy gold. Lovely lift and complexity. Fantastic! Best wine tasted so far (all red otherwise). Great nuance and herbs and so sweet but all kept in great barley-sugar corset with leaves and refreshment on the end, orange peel. Long, meat and two veg and SO interesting!' - Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, 18.5/20 (Nov 2011)
'This is amazing. Full of spicy botrytis character, with smoke and piecrust underneath. Full and rich, yet not cloying or too dense. It's lively and long, finishing with intensity and power. An unnerving combination of wild ripe fruit and intense botrytis, with lively acidity. Really powerful. Should be a perfect wine.' - James Suckling, Wine Spectator, 97/100 (April 2008)
