About this Item
Grapes for the Granite Chenin were sourced from a parcel of sustainably, dry-farmed 43 year old parcel of sustainably and dry farmed bush vines planted in the decomposed Granite soils of the Paardeberg. These very deep decomposed Granite soils tend to produce wines with great acidity and a flinty, stony aromatic profile.
Grapes for the Quartz Chenin were from a single parcel of sustainably farmed 38 years old vines planted in a quartz kloof on the Kasteelberg. This parcel of Chenin gives the best expression of the quartz terroir on the Kasteelberg - fresh minerality.

Mullineux Granite Chenin Blanc 2018
'Mid gold. Recognisably Chenin but with extra backbone. Really fine and firm with excellent acidity. And potential for evolution. Top-quality ingredients and winemaking. Long with refined baked-apple flavours.' - Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (May 2021)
'The 2018 Granite Chenin Blanc comes from 42-year-old-vines on the Paardeberg. The bouquet offers lime, orange zest and honey suckle on the nose, plus a touch of watermelon in the background. The palate is very well balanced with a crisp line of acidity, and quite saline in the mouth. It tightens up on the finish, where I would like to see a little more terroir expression.' - Neal Martin, Vinous, 91/100 (Oct 2019)
'Andrea Mullineux sources this intensely focused Chenin Blanc from two old vineyards on the Paardeberg. Stony, saline and assertively bone dry, it's one of those whites that could only be produced from granite soils. Sappy, crunchy and very long on the palate, with citrus fruit zing. 2021-28' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2019, 94/100
Mullineux Quartz Chenin Blanc 2018
The 2018 Quartz Chenin Blanc comes from the Leliefontein vineyard. It has a more expressive bouquet compared to the Granite, featuring aromas of yellow flowers, honeysuckle and peach skin. The fresh, vibrant palate is very well balance with superb salinity, and the pith finish is a joy. This Chenin is endowed with impressive concentration. Excellent.' - Neal Martin, Vinous, 93/100 (Oct 2019)
'Quartz hails from white soils on the Kasteelberg and shows what Andrea Mullineux calls the "energy of reflected light". Leesy, richer and slightly riper than the Granite Chenin, it has pear and nectarine fruit and supporting acidity. 2019-25' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2019, 93/100
