About this Item
The Golden Slopes is named after the deep yellow coloured granite rocks found in this vineyard (planted in 1966). The soils are of course granite with a 15% clay component. The results in grapes that ripen slightly later than the vineyards on the farm and the wine always has plenty of texture and tension on the palate; wonderfully balanced acidity and length too. The aromas are dominated by yellow fruits, quince and spicy notes.

'As it was in 2016, this is one of my wines of the year, sourced from yellow granite soils (hence the name) at the top of the farm. Bottled late, it's a gorgeous wine with a combination of perfume, focus and density, showing leesy richness and thrilling, vibrant acidity. 2020-28.' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2018, 95/100
