"This early work was made using liquid crystal no longer available to me. I developed it while working in a scientist's laboratory in London. Liquid crystal was highly distinctive and played a key role in my creative process at the time. When viewed closely, you will notice intricate crystal formations within the detail. This material is reactive to both light and heat, changing colour in response to the surrounding temperature and lighting conditions, which gives the piece a dynamic, ever-shifting quality." — Gail Catlin, 2025.
