Critics Ratings
'Pale garnet. There is real sweetness and energy here even if it's not quite as compelling as the Grenache 2019. A light gamey note and real earthy local character with a sweet finish but it's overall very light and dancing. Very juicy on the mid palate with distinct chew on the end.' - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Sept 2020)
'Five varieties from eight vineyards make up the blend of this Grenache and Syrah-based red, with Carignan, Cinsault and Pinotage for company. Sappy, dense and grippy with savoury, wild herb top notes, layered tannins and bramble, blackberry and raspberry fruit.' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2020, 94/100
'Grenache & syrah (33/31) lead equal carignan, cinsaut & pinotage in 2018. Savoury, juicy, with generous plum & spice countered by precise yet firm inky core. Muscular but svelte, with lacy tannins.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2021, 5* (96/100)
'Dark berry fruit on the nose commingles with Earl Grey and light briny aromas, all very well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip on the entry and good acidity; quite rigid tannins suggest that this will need 12 - 18 months in bottle. Very saline toward the finish. Strangely, it is the Carignan that I feel the most despite its representing only a small percentage of the blend. It should be fascinating to watch this age.' - Neal Martin, Vinous, 91/100 (Oct 2020)
