Notes

These spoons were sold to fund the monument's construction, which cost £350,000. Designed by renowned South African artist WH. Coetzer, the original design is housed at MuseumAfrica in Johannesburg. Coetzer also designed the 1938 Great Trek commemorative postage stamps, as well as the Voortrekker Monument's marble friezes and tapestries, completed in 1948.
