Notes

The sofa table, a form of Pembroke table, was introduced in the late 18th century. It was designed to be placed behind a sofa and used to display books or decorative items such as lamps. The sofa table replaced the Pembroke table in the early 19thc and has the drop-down leaves on the shorter as opposed to the longer sides.
