Critics Ratings
‘The 2008 Les Ormes de Pez has an impressive bouquet with blackberry, raspberry and crushed violet/iris aromas that unfold in the glass and eventually attain impressive vigor. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, plenty of sappy black fruit, an engaging sense of energy with a brisk, delineated finish that is nicely focused. It just needs a little more detail but otherwise this is very fine.’ – Neal Martin, Vinous, 91/100 (Mar 2018)
‘Straightforward blackcurrant fruit with a bit of oak spice. Powerful and youthful on the palate – still full of primary fruit. Perhaps lacking a bit of complexity?’ – Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Feb 2018)
‘This dark ruby/purple-tinged sleeper of the vintage offers a sweet bouquet of black currants, underbrush, licorice and berry fruit. Medium to full-bodied with excellent depth, good acidity and an endearing roundness, it can be enjoyed now and over the next 8-10 years.’ – Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (May 2011)
‘Owned by the Cazes family of Lynch-Bages, therefore with impeccable winemaking behind it, this is a big, tough wine based on great ripe fruit. The château continues to offer quality for price.’ – Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 91/100 (Apr 2011)
‘Tangy and vibrant, showing brisk pomegranate, damson plum, tobacco and mineral notes that have good cut on the mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2015.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator (Mar 2011)
