With a history dating back over 300 years, Vergelegen has kept a simple winemaking philosophy this entire time, ‘there must be harmony between the old and the new’. Having produced fine, modern wines for two decades, Vergelegen is one of South Africa’s highest regarded, established producers. Situated on the Schaapenberg in Somerset West, overlooking False Bay. The 3,000 hectare estate is situated in one of the richest floral regions of the world and they practice sustainable farming and have various environmental projects.

‘Saturated, deep ruby-red. Ripe, sappy red- and blackcurrant aromas, with mineral, mint and lead pencil notes; like modern-style claret. Tightly wound and intense, with terrific, urgent layered fruit and sexy French oak. At once firm and smooth. Finishes with big, broad tannins and excellent persistence.
