Are these wines late picked or does the whole-bunch fermentation lead to this roundness? Rounder and broader than most Côte Rôtie yet with the trademark freshness of the appellation. ‘Another wine that's a classic representation of the appellation and the vintage is the 2013 Cote Rotie, which all comes from parcels in the Cote Brune side of the appellation and offers textbook notes of black raspberries, spring flowers, smoke, olives and sappy underbrush. Complex, nuanced and layered, this medium-bodied beauty has fabulous tension and energy on the palate, with integrated acidity, fine, polished tannin and terrific length. It's not a blockbuster by any means, but it shines for its purity, elegance and length.
