‘Earthy aromas of truffle, new leather, celery, botanical herb and balsamic notes align with a whiff of iris. The palate shows dried black cherry, raspberry, orange rind and tobacco framed in polished tannins. It's a bit forward for the vintage but still offers good midterm aging potential. Drink from 2020 through 2025.’ – Kerin O’Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, 91/100 (May 2018)
‘The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino is a dark and thickly textured wine from a cooler vintage. The wine exhibits a deeply saturated appearance with little light penetration. The bouquet is enhanced by dark fruit aromas of black cherry and crème de cassis, with licorice, spice and tobacco at the back. There is a sweet spot on the close, and the tannins are neatly folded into the wine's thick texture. The overall effect is slower and thicker than its peers..’ – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 91/100 (Mar 2018)
